Backup’s and Restore’s

We are often asked to find a missing message or messages, web page or restore a single message and many similar requests.

This possibility does exist but it is not a simple task and it varies by the specific service we are providing. This help page is meant to provide some clarity as to what is possible.

Missing email – First we have millions messages each day arriving, we need as much detail as possible to assist with this. Example

  • Senders email address
  • Date/time it was sent by the sender
  • That you have checked your spam folder, this is different depending on your account and service type. Legacy iinet.com customers please login to https://console.iinet.com or https://webmail.iinet.com

While we are happy to help we need details to be able to assist you.

Each service type have different backup’s methods in place

  • Legacy iinet.com – Weekly backup’s which we retain for six weeks, then generally a monthly backup for 4-6 months in addition to the weekly. In reality they are the same backup but typically on the first Sunday of the month we will move that backup to an external device. While we can restore individual backup’s we need details from you, please provide the following details:
    • Why is the restore needed, we do understand things happen
    • The date you wish restored, backups start on Sunday of each week and take about 72 hours to complete.
    • The names of the folder(s) you wish restored
    • Confirm that you understand we can only restore things on our servers, if you are setup for POP3 unless you set your machine to leave mail on server we can only restore that.
    • Please send the request to our support email support@iinet.com
    • We may have a charge for this depending on the complexity and how complete the information we have received.
  • Easy Street Business email – 30 days
  • Office 365 Hosted Exchange – We rely on Microsoft to backup email

All of the above if you are not setup with IMAP or Exchange in the case of 365 and are using POP3 our backups will not retain anything unless you have your account setup to leave mail on server.

Web Hosting

Backups run twice each week and are retain 4-6 weeks depending on timing.

We encourage customers to maintain backup’s independent of our services on your own device.
